I’ve had the opportunity to teach a wide array of students, including undergraduate and graduate Computer Science students as well as graduate Pharmacy students, all as a teaching assistant for my advisor Dr. Nuno Bandeira.
SPPS 205: Pharmacy Informatics
Teaching Assistant: Spring 2017-2021
For this course I co-created an online learning system using Stepik to help students who previously had little coding experience learn Excel, SQL, and R interactively. The course contained many small assignments as well as larger projects where we transformed key papers into step-by-step questions involving the technical learnings from class.
CSE 190: Biomolecular Big Data Systems
Teaching Assistant: Fall 2018, Spring 2021, Winter 2022
For this course I also co-created assignments and developed autograders for the students to learn the fundamentals of computational mass spectrometry, including de novo sequencing, protein parsimony, and post-translational modifications. In 2018, this course had just over a dozen students growing to nearly 40 students in winter 2022.
CSE 291: Biomolecular Big Data Systems
Teaching Assistant: Spring 2019
For this course my role was similar to CSE 190. Additioanlly, I helped create a final project, requiring students to use public mass spectrometry data and make a presentation.
